How this directory was built
Firms were selected based on public reputation, prominence in Johnson County legal practice, and breadth of practice areas relevant to North Liberty residents. Information was compiled from firm websites, public legal directories (Avvo, Justia, Super Lawyers, Martindale-Hubbell), and Google business listings — researched in June 2026. Google ratings shown reflect publicly visible information at that time; ratings change, and the absence of a rating means the firm did not have a clearly visible Google review summary in search at the time of research, not that the firm is less reputable.
This is a focused, NL-first directory. Our sister site coralvillelaw.com/lawyers.html maintains the full 40-firm corridor directory covering Coralville, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids. Many of those firms also serve North Liberty; the most NL-relevant ones are included below.
Inclusion is editorial. If you operate a North Liberty firm and want to be added, corrected, or removed — or want to discuss sponsored placement (clearly labeled and separated from the editorial list) — see contact.

Firms with offices in North Liberty
7 firmsThese are the law firms — and the City Attorney — with a physical office inside North Liberty city limits (52317). NL is small enough that the local legal bench is modest; most NL residents also use Iowa City firms, which are ten minutes south. Both groups practice in the same courthouse: the Johnson County Courthouse at 417 S. Clinton Street, Iowa City.

An honesty note on "Rouse Law"
Earlier research suggested Rouse Law P.C. (rouselaw.us) had a North Liberty presence, and the firm markets aggressively to NL with location-specific SEO pages. On verification, Rouse Law is a West Des Moines firm at 4940 Pleasant Street — founder Ward A. "Sam" Rouse, J.D. Drake 1990, prosecutor turned defense lawyer in the mid-1990s. They take NL personal injury cases remotely but do not have a physical office in town. Listed here so you don't drive somewhere that doesn't exist.

Cedar Rapids firms with corridor offices
3 firmsCedar Rapids is ~20 minutes north of North Liberty on I-380 — closer to NL than it is to most of Iowa City. It's the largest city in eastern Iowa (~135,000) and home to the corridor's biggest law firms, the Linn County Courthouse, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. Several Cedar Rapids firms maintain Iowa City or Coralville offices that routinely represent NL clients.

Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC — Coralville office at 1150 5th Street #170, ~10 minutes south of NL. Bradley & Riley PC — Iowa City office at Tower Place, One South Gilbert Street. Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, P.L.C. — Coralville office at 327 2nd Street Suite 300 (their Cedar Rapids HQ has 50+ attorneys, the largest single firm in the area).

How to use this directory
- Identify your practice area. The right OWI lawyer is rarely the right divorce lawyer.
- Cross-reference at least 2–3 firms. Don't hire the first one you call.
- Ask for a consult. Most firms offer a free or reduced-cost initial meeting. Bring all documents.
- Verify standing. Check disciplinary history on iowacourts.gov before retaining anyone.
- Get fees in writing. Iowa Rule 32:1.5 requires written fee agreements over $1,000. See our legal fees guide.
Detailed guidance on selection criteria, what to ask, and red flags is on our how to find a lawyer page.

FAQ — North Liberty & corridor lawyer directory
How many law firms actually have offices in North Liberty?
By our June 2026 research, about five to six private law firms have physical offices in NL (52317): Vondra Law Office (Community Drive), Ball, Kirk & Holm's NL office (Jordan Street), Boresi Law Firm (Quarry Heights), Gilmere Law Office (West Lake Road), and Cynthia Floss Sharpe (Vandello Circle). Mark Thompson Criminal Defense uses an NL P.O. Box but works out of Iowa City. The City Attorney (Grant Lientz) is at City Hall but represents the City only.
Why does this directory include Iowa City and Cedar Rapids firms?
Because North Liberty is too small to support a full bar. NL has no courthouse — every state-court matter goes to the Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa City, ten minutes south. Federal matters go to the Northern District of Iowa in Cedar Rapids, ~20 minutes north on I-380. NL residents routinely retain Iowa City firms (which are functionally local) and Cedar Rapids firms for federal work, complex litigation, and corporate matters. NL-located firms appear first in each practice section; the others are included because they actually serve NL clients.
Are these firms ranked or rated by the site?
No. The directory is organized alphabetically within practice areas, with NL-located firms first. Google ratings shown reflect publicly visible information at the time of research (June 2026) and are not our rankings. The presence or absence of a rating does not signal quality — many strong firms don't actively cultivate Google reviews.
Did any of these firms pay to be listed?
No. This is an editorial directory. None of the firms paid for inclusion. If we ever offer paid sponsored placements, those will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" and visually separated from the editorial directory. See contact for advertising information.
Where can I check an Iowa lawyer's disciplinary history?
Iowa attorney discipline records are public. Search "Find a Lawyer" at iowacourts.gov — it shows admission date and any public discipline.
My firm should be listed (or I see something wrong).
Email us via the contact page. We fix errors within a day or two and review new firm submissions for inclusion. We aim to be reasonably comprehensive for prominent NL and Johnson County firms but don't claim to list every practitioner.
